About Us

About our church

Trinity Heights is a church in West Harlem/Morningside Heights thoughtfully exploring how the Christian narrative centered on the person of Jesus can be compelling for life today.

What does that mean?

We believe the Christian narrative though of great antiquity is not antiquated, though ancient is not archaic. We want to rediscover how this ancient story in all its complexity heightens and justifies all our deepest values and can orient us in this world toward a life of beauty, love and justice.

What does our church look like?

To help us live life together and foster a rhythm of exploring the Christian story, we have several opportunities to meet and connect throughout the week:

  • Weekly Gatherings on Sunday

  • Brunch Mezzanine at the conclusion of every series

  • Community Groups

  • Book Clubs

Who are we for?

We are a congregation of Christians from different denominations and skeptics who are in conversation together about life and faith.

About Stephen Cheung

Stephen is from the UK where he grew up as an agnostic. After discovering the Christian story for himself he completed his theological training at Bristol and has since served churches in the UK, Mexico and America. Stephen is obsessed with Friedrich Nietzsche, the subject of his PhD thesis which he completed last year.

Stephen is married to Julia and they moved to NYC in 2014, they absolutely love living in the city. If you don’t find Stephen officing out of a local coffee shop you can find him in his box at the opera. (No, he doesn’t actually have a box at the opera, but he is an avid opera fan.)
